Land and Corruption in Africa

ROCsalt and partner Fructuous Consulting based in South Africa conducted the final evaluation of Transparency International’s ten year programme on Land and Corruption in Africa. Working across eight countries and an important Africa Union focused regional policy component and international advocacy TI sought to address issues of corruption reinforcing inequality and discrimination in access to land. Our evaluation found significant progress made in national contexts where the organisation was active in communities and in policy advocacy, including developing innovative methods to strengthen awareness of land rights and procedures. The sustained impact of the programme gains will however depend on continued and scaling up of engagement with communities and policy makers at a time when resources are scarce.
